The thought leadership session will focus on how data and information impact lives daily when dealing with the energy industry as well as common misconceptions on cyber security and concerns over cyber threats.
Denim Group, the leading secure software development firm, has announced that John Dickson will be a panel speaker during this year’s CPS Energy educational series, “Empower U: The Digital Emergence.” With electrical utilities perhaps being the most vital component of our nation’s critical infrastructure, addressing how the nation’s largest municipally owned energy utility balances customer satisfaction and security will be the central topic of the panel. This exclusive educational series will take place at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center in San Antonio, Texas on Thursday, May 19, 2016 from 8:30am-4:00pm CDT.
CPS Energy invited Dickson to share his unique perspective providing security services to numerous electrical industry and non-electrical industry clients on the Engage & Connect: Balancing Customer Satisfaction & Innovation with Security panel, scheduled to begin at 1:10pm CDT. The session will address how data and information impacts people’s daily lives when it comes to cyber threats that concern the energy industry and the many implications that exist when it comes to cyber security. The panelists will also discuss the most common misperceptions that exist when it comes to cyber security and how they rate grid security against other cyber threats. Carolyn Shellman, Group EVP & General Counsel of CPS Energy, will also be participating in the session. Phylis Batson, Vice President of Customer Engagement and Care at CPS Energy, will act as the moderator. Of note, Dickson is also Chairman of Cyber Security San Antonio, the community-wide initiative to build the region’s cyber security industry hosted in San Antonio’s Chamber of Commerce.
EmpowerU is an exclusive educational series for CPS Energy employees which offers strategic insight to emerging strategies and movements by way of external thought leadership and visionary sessions. By highlighting the topic of Digital Emergence, Empower U focuses on the need to evolve along with process automation, efficiencies and enhancements that have a direct impact on the future utility business model.
