I will be on a panel at the next San Antonio ISSA Meeting discussing cloud security.
The meeting is at Dave and Buster’s at 440 Crossroads Blvd, San Antonio, TX 78201 on June 15th at 11:30am. Attendance costs between $15.00 and $20.00 depending on whether or not you are an ISSA member and/or whether or not you pre-register.
The title of the panel is: Securing the Cloud: Demystifying the Threats That Exist With Cloud Computing and How to Protect Against Them
The panel abstract is:
The benefits of cloud computing have created a lot of buzz over the past couple of years, but does sharing infrastructure mean sharing increased risk? Agility and lower costs have many business and technology leaders scrambling to figure out how to shift as many resources as they can into the cloud. As security professionals, we have to understand the unique risks introduced by public, private and community clouds and be prepared to ask the right questions before and after we start handing over our data.
Join our expert panel as we discuss the real world security challenges the cloud presents and why not all clouds are created the same. We will explore the impact this has on our applications and infrastructure, and break down some of the latest threat research from the Cloud Security Alliance. Discover why location matters, and the role San Antonio is playing with Rackspace, Microsoft, the Federal Government and a number of other organizations making huge investments in cloud facilities right here. At the end of the session you will be able to better articulate the threats of cloud computing to your organization’s management team, and understand how to mitigate them.
Right now the confirmed panelsists are myself and Josh Zachry from the UTSA Institute for Cyber Security and I know they are looking to add one or two more folks.
